If you’re 40 years or older, your body is beginning to procedure less and less of the hormones necessary to regulate your body, and you may even be experiencing symptoms of a deficiency. At Cosmetica Plastic Surgery and Anti-Aging, we offer solutions so you can feel like yourself again.

What is Hormone Therapy for Women?

Hormone therapy for women involves bringing a balance to the hormone levels. This typically involves increasing estrogen levels during menopause when the body naturally begins to produce less. For some women, hormone therapy may involve the combination of estrogen and progesterone. To administer the hormones, bio-identical pellets are placed in the body. The pellets can be safely absorbed by the body, and synthetic hormones act like the real thing, helping to regulate the body and mood of the patient and relieve menopause symptoms.

Who is a Candidate for Hormone Therapy?

Women typically experience the negative effects of hormone changes during menopause during the ages of 40-50. These symptoms might include:

  • Feeling anxious
  • Increased stress
  • Irritability
  • Lack of energy
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Decreased sex drive
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Hot flashes
  • Weight gain

Currently, the FDA only approves the use of hormone therapy in women with a medical diagnosis requiring hormone therapy, however, Adley can determine if patients can still benefit from treatment even without a medical condition. Women who have had their ovaries removed typically require hormone therapy to balance their hormones and keep the body regulating properly.

“I appreciate the time given to listen to my concerns.”

The Treatment Process

Treatment with bio-identical hormone pellets is performed in-office in a short, 5-minute procedure. To place the pellets, a very small incision is made, typically in the hip or buttocks. The pellets can then be placed through the incision and into the fatty layers where the hormones will be absorbed by the body. The incision can be closed with a simple butterfly strip instead of stitches.

Results of Hormone Therapy

It is recommended that patients take it easy after hormone pellet placement and avoid strenuous exercise. Over the next several weeks, the body will begin to absorb the pellets and patients can expect the following results:

  • Enhanced libido
  • Lower cholesterol
  • Increased energy
  • Easier weight loss
  • Stronger muscles
  • Improved mood
  • Increased thought clarity
