JUVEDERM is a next generation family of smooth, long-lasting gel dermal fillers, and the latest advance in hyaluronic acid cosmetic filler technology. Over recent years, hyaluronic acid, a complex sugar already found naturally in the body has become a favored compound for replenishing the areas of the face where the skin's volume and fullness have been lost.

In the body, hyaluronic acid fills the space between collagen and elastin fibers of the skin. It is present in all living cells; attracting and binding water, hydrating and giving the skin smoothness and volume. However, as the body ages, the ability of the body's cells to manufacture its own hyaluronic acid is diminished, resulting in the loss of skin volume, producing folds and wrinkles.

JUVEDERM is bio synthetic and of non-animal origin, so there is little chance of allergic reaction. The formula is highly bio compatible, and no skin testing is required prior to administration. It has been proven to be safe and effective for skin of all types and colors.

The main difference between JUVEDERM and other popular hyaluronic acid fillers is that JUVEDERM has the highest concentration of hyaluronic acid, and is smoother than other popular gels. These gels utilize a suspension process, with particles that can be visibly seen, while JUVEDERM is completely transparent.

 

JUVEDERM ULTRA is used for contouring and volumizing average-depth depressions and wrinkles such as nasolabial folds, forehead wrinkles, glabellar lines, mild-to-moderate nasal and cheek furrows, and to plump up thin lips, JUVEDERM ULTRA PLUS is indicated where deeper correction is needed such as  volume filling of cheeks, lips and deep nasolabial folds.

 

The combination of the higher concentration of hyaluronic acid and the smoother formulation make JUVEDERM long-lasting (up to 12 months)  producing natural, even filling effects. As with other hyaluronic acid fillers, JUVEDERM is gradually absorbed naturally into the body.

 

 

The areas of the skin to be treated are first coated with a topical anesthetic, which is usually sufficient for the patient's comfort, although a nerve block may be preferable for some patients. JUVEDERM filler treatment is quite simple and is similar to other dermal fillers/wrinkle reducers. It is injected into the area of the wrinkles and creases with minimal discomfort. Its effects are immediate, lasting up to nine months. It is especially effective for the nasolabial folds, lip augmentation, and areas of contour deformities. It is also an ideal adjunct for Botox treatment and is frequently used in conjunction with Botox to correct lines and creases that persist.
